Thanksgiving Poppabilities!

by Bold Commerce on November 15, 2017

Thanksgiving is that time a year when families and friends come together to break bread, enjoy each others company, and above all, express their gratitude for the blessings bestowed throughout the year.  Food is how many people show their love for one another.  It’s how they show their appreciation, their support, and it is how they say “thank you.”  As a small business, Popcorn Friday relies on the support of the community and our customers, and we remain forever thankful for each and every one of you.  You make what we do a joy.  We love coming up with new ideas and flavors, and this month, we’ve come up with some new ones inspired by Thanksgiving.

Savory:  Turkey Stuffing

When you sit down with your family to feast this Thanksgiving, what will adorn your table?  If you’re like a majority of Americans, there will be a beautiful roasted (or deep fried) turkey with a big helping of stuffing (or dressing as a lot of southerners call it) and all the accompanying side dishes.  Don’t worry, we’ll get to those other side dishes later, *wink, wink*, but for now let’s focus on the stuffing.  Every family has their traditional family recipe.  Some make a cornbread stuffing. Some throw apples and rice into the breading mixture.  Some people even jazz it up with a variety of breads and maybe some cranberries and nuts.  However you make it, one thing is true:  it’s just not a Thanksgiving meal without it.  This year, I decided to take our family recipe and add it to popcorn.  It’s a savory blend of herbs and spices, and I promise you won’t be able to stop eating it.  Just be careful you don’t end up feeling like the stuffed turkey.

Candy:  Cranberry Orange

As you look down your heavily laden table on Thursday, November 23rd, you’ll see a whole host of side dishes.  Among them may be some variety of potato, russet or sweet, or maybe both.  There might be a variety of casseroles, and maybe a few salads.  One thing most people will see somewhere near the turkey will be a cranberry dish.  You might even be one of those people that has to make fresh cranberry sauce instead of just opening up a can, although, I know people that are all about the cranberry jelly stuff out of the can, so no judgments here!  Regardless of the style it’s served up, cranberries go hand-in-hand with turkey and Thanksgiving.  We took cranberry and coupled it with oranges to create this mouth-watering concoction of fall-itude.  (I just invented that word. Feel free to use it.)  It’s sweet and fresh, and hey, it would probably pair well with the Turkey Stuffing flavor.  I mean, it works at Thanksgiving, so why not?

Specialty: Apple Pie á la Mode

I don’t know about you, but Thanksgiving is that holiday that’s all about the food.  If you’re anything like me, you’re sure to wear your comfy pants, or as Joey in Friends said, “His eatin’ britches” because there’s food, food, and more food, and all that is capped off by more desserts than you could ever eat at a single meal.  But you’ll try.  Because just like at Christmas, the calories don’t count at Thanksgiving, and everyone who showed up at your house to partake in this feast brought their favorite kind of pie.  This might actually be the second largest debate in Thanksgiving history, the first being which is better: turkey or the side dishes.  (By the way, if you’re taking notes, put me down firmly in the “side dishes” category.)  I mean, everyone has an opinion.  Pumpkin, pecan, cherry, apple, sweet potato, coconut cream, chocolate cream, the list can go on and on.  I’d almost wager that just like your unique family traditional stuffing recipe, there’s a pie or other dessert that only makes an appearance at Thanksgiving, otherwise, it’s just not the same holiday.  Here at Popcorn Friday, we took your love (ok, fine, our love too) of pie and created Apple Pie á la Mode just for you.  Its popcorn plus apple pie.  What’s not to love?  That hint of apple, that dash of cinnamon, that touch of vanilla.  It’s truly a work of art.  Delicious, edible art.

While your friends and family are visiting for the Thanksgiving holiday, bring them by our store and treat them to some of our wonderful popcorn.  These three flavors, Turkey Stuffing, Cranberry Orange, and Apple Pie á la Mode are a great place to start!  So stop by Popcorn Friday or visit our online store and order today!

Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
